As of 2013 new FEMA regulations raised the coastal flood zones to 13’ and this generator installation required something a little different. We build a 8.1’x 8’ x 6’ platform from brick with a proper footing and 6” roof platform to support the large liquid cooled generator. We next had to install a 1000 gal. Liquid Propane tank to supply the fuel. This required a concrete pad below the tank, see the photos of it being poured, the pad was 16’x5’x9” which the pad was tied down to, we next filled in the sides with sand and then poured another 16’x5’xx5” pad on top of the tank. This was all done to keep an empty tank from launching out of the ground during a flood. Coastal installations bring their own complications but none are insurmountable.
